We're always delighted to have you share your thoughts and ideas with us, especially through the Guest Book. We've taken a moment to answer those questions you most frequently ask Don via email and letters.

Do you have a catalogue of new Zolan products?

So much is going on with Don's work right now that we're afraid a catalogue would be out of date shortly after publication. We're making this website our ever-changing catalogue, to keep you completely up to date on Don's current artwork, new products and all the latest news.

What is the procedure to commission a portrait?

Don meets with the client to discuss his ideas and concepts to the portrait. Upon the client's agreement to the general ideas, Don does extensive photo shoots in a variety of settings with different lighting and props. From these shoots, Don selects three or four variations for the portrait and presents his recommendations.

Upon acceptance, Don prepares a small oil study before beginning the final line drawing and the original oil painting. A special unveiling is held upon completion, either at the studio or in the client's home. A portrait commission takes 3 to 4 months and commissions begin at $25,000.

When are you going to publish calendars and note cards of your artwork?

We expect to have a company producing stationary products for 2001. Please keep checking the web site for details.

Are there any books published about Donald and his works?

Yes. Two of the well known books are: Donald Zolan's Oil Paintings of Early Childhood and Donald Zolan's Originals on Early Childhood published by Pemberton & Oakes in 1988 and 1991 respectively. These books are currently sold out and are available only on the secondary market. Try contacting a dealer or check any of the collectible auction sites on the internet.

Many of your earlier works were published in limited edition prints. For the last few years, we've only seen your works on collector plates. When are you going to publish your newer works as limited edition prints?

At this point, Donald is limiting his prints to open edition reproductions through the New York Graphic Society. Information on availability and a direct link to the company is provided on our licensed products page. At some point in the future, we may begin publishing limited edition lithographs. Should we do so, you'll hear about it first on our website.
